  • 1 teaspoon ground cumin
  • 1 tablespoon Tajín seasoning (optional)
  • 1 teaspoon honey or agave syrup
  • 1 cup cold sparkling water or club soda

Instructions

  1. Prepare the rim seasoning by combining chili powder, salt, ground cumin, and optional Tajín seasoning in a small bowl. Mix well and adjust seasoning to taste. (5 minutes)
  2. Wet the rims of serving cups lightly with lime juice. Dip each rim into the seasoning mix, twisting to coat evenly. Set aside to dry slightly. (5 minutes)
  3. Cube the watermelon into 1-inch bite-sized pieces and place in a mixing bowl. (10 minutes)
  4. Drizzle lime juice and honey (or agave) over the watermelon cubes. Toss gently to coat evenly. (2 minutes)
  5. Spoon the watermelon cubes into the rimmed cups, filling about three-quarters full. Add about 2 tablespoons of cold sparkling water or club soda to each cup. (5 minutes)
  6. Chill the assembled cups in the refrigerator for about 15 minutes before serving to let flavors meld and keep cool.

Notes

Adjust chili powder and cumin to control spice level. For vegan option, use agave instead of honey. Rim seasoning can be prepared ahead and stored airtight. Rim cups just before serving to keep seasoning crisp. If lime juice is very tart, add extra honey or a pinch of sugar to balance acidity. Toast cumin lightly for deeper aroma if desired. Keep watermelon and cups chilled for best texture and flavor.
