A simple, creamy, and healthy frozen treat made with just five ingredients: frozen bananas, peanut butter, milk, vanilla, and a touch of honey or maple syrup. Perfect for a guilt-free dessert or snack with a smooth, ice-cream-like texture.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 3 medium frozen ripe bananas, peeled and sliced
  • 1/3 cup natural creamy peanut butter (no sugar added)
  • 1/4 cup (60 ml) plant-based milk or dairy milk (almond, oat, or cow’s milk)
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 1 tablespoon honey or pure maple syrup (optional)

Instructions

  1. Peel and slice ripe bananas into 1-inch pieces, then freeze for at least 4 hours or overnight.
  2. Place frozen banana slices and peanut butter into a high-speed blender or food processor.
  3. Add 1/4 cup (60 ml) of your chosen milk to help blend smoothly.
  4. Add vanilla extract and honey or maple syrup if using.
  5. Pulse the mixture, scraping down the sides as needed, until it reaches a soft-serve consistency (3-5 minutes). Add more milk sparingly if too thick.
  6. Taste and adjust sweetness by adding more honey or syrup if desired, then pulse again.
  7. Serve immediately for soft-serve texture or transfer to a freezer-safe container and freeze for 1-2 hours for firmer ice cream.

Notes

Use slightly overripe bananas for best sweetness and creaminess. Blend in short bursts and scrape sides often to avoid chunks. Adjust milk quantity carefully to avoid a smoothie-like texture. For firmer ice cream, freeze after blending for 1-2 hours. Let frozen bananas sit a few minutes before blending if icy. Variations include adding cocoa powder, protein powder, or swapping peanut butter for other nut or seed butters.
