Spooky Halloween Dirt Pudding Cups Recipe for Easy Graveyard Fun

Halloween Dirt Pudding Cups - featured image

These spooky Halloween dirt pudding cups are a fun and festive dessert featuring chocolate pudding, cookie crumbs, and candy decorations to create edible graveyards.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 2 boxes (3.9 oz each) chocolate pudding mix
  • 4 cups cold whole milk
  • Crushed chocolate sandwich cookies (e.g., Oreos, filling removed)
  • Gummy worms
  • Candy pumpkins
  • Cookie or candy tombstones
  • Whipped topping (e.g., Cool Whip or homemade whipped cream)
  • Optional decorations: chocolate sprinkles, shredded coconut dyed green, candy eyes

Instructions

  1. In a large mixing bowl, combine the chocolate pudding mix and cold milk. Whisk for about 2 minutes until the mixture thickens. Chill in the refrigerator for 10-15 minutes.
  2. Remove the filling from the chocolate sandwich cookies and place the cookies in a ziploc bag. Seal the bag and crush them into fine crumbs using a rolling pin or a heavy object. Alternatively, use a food processor for quicker results.
  3. Take your rectangular cookies or chocolate bars and carefully write spooky messages on them using icing or edible markers. Set them aside to dry.
  4. Start by adding a layer of chocolate pudding to the bottom of each clear cup. Follow up with a layer of cookie crumbs. Repeat until the cups are full, finishing with a generous sprinkle of cookie crumbs on top.
  5. Stick a decorated tombstone into the top layer of dirt. Nestle gummy worms into the dirt so they look like they’re crawling out. Place candy pumpkins around the tombstone to complete the graveyard effect.
  6. Optional: Sprinkle chocolate sprinkles or green-dyed shredded coconut around the tombstone to create grass. Add candy eyes or spooky candy shapes for an extra eerie vibe.
  7. Refrigerate the cups for at least 30 minutes before serving. Serve cold.

Notes

[‘Do not rush the pudding; allow it to chill and set for the best texture.’, ‘Seal the ziploc bag tightly when crushing cookies to avoid mess.’, ‘Practice writing on tombstones with icing before decorating.’, ‘Get kids involved in decorating for added fun.’]
