Soft, moist, and packed with classic banana flavor, these chocolate chip banana bars are the perfect snack for any occasion.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 3 medium ripe bananas, mashed
  • 1/2 cup unsalted butter, melted and slightly cooled
  • 1/2 cup brown sugar
  • 1/4 cup granulated sugar
  • 1 large egg, at room temperature
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 1 cup all-purpose flour
  • 1 teaspoon baking powder
  • 1/4 teaspoon salt
  • 3/4 cup chocolate chips (milk or semi-sweet)

Instructions

  1. Preheat your oven to 350Β°F (175Β°C). Grease your 9×9-inch baking pan or line it with parchment paper.
  2. In a large mixing bowl, mash the ripe bananas until smooth, leaving a few small chunks for texture.
  3. Add melted butter, brown sugar, granulated sugar, egg, and vanilla extract to the mashed bananas. Whisk until well combined.
  4. In a separate bowl, mix all-purpose flour, baking powder, and salt. Gradually add the dry ingredients to the wet ingredients, stirring gently until just combined.
  5. Fold in the chocolate chips using a spatula, ensuring they are evenly distributed.
  6. Pour the batter into the prepared pan and spread it evenly. Optionally, sprinkle extra chocolate chips on top.
  7. Bake for 20-25 minutes or until a toothpick inserted into the center comes out clean.
  8. Remove the pan from the oven and let the bars cool completely before slicing into squares.

Notes

Use overripe bananas for the best flavor and natural sweetness. Toss chocolate chips in a little flour before folding them into the batter to prevent sinking. Let the bars cool completely before slicing to avoid crumbling.
