A creamy Greek yogurt bowl with a splash of orange liqueur, fresh orange segments, and bittersweet dark chocolate, perfect for a romantic date night or casual brunch.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 1 cup (240 ml) full-fat Greek yogurt
  • 2 tablespoons (30 ml) orange liqueur (e.g., Grand Marnier or Cointreau)
  • 1 medium fresh orange, peeled and segmented
  • 1 ounce (28 g) dark chocolate, finely chopped or shaved (70% cocoa or higher)
  • 1 teaspoon honey or maple syrup (optional)
  • 2 tablespoons toasted almonds or pistachios, roughly chopped (optional)
  • 1/4 teaspoon vanilla extract

Instructions

  1. Peel the orange and carefully segment it, removing any pith or seeds (about 5 minutes).
  2. In a mixing bowl, combine 1 cup of full-fat Greek yogurt with 2 tablespoons of orange liqueur and 1/4 teaspoon vanilla extract. Stir gently until smooth, about 1-2 minutes. Add 1 teaspoon honey or maple syrup if desired and mix well.
  3. Spoon the yogurt mixture into a serving bowl.
  4. Arrange the orange segments evenly on top of the yogurt.
  5. Sprinkle the chopped or shaved dark chocolate over the orange segments.
  6. If using, scatter toasted almonds or pistachios on top for crunch.
  7. Optionally, grate a little orange zest over the bowl for extra zing.
  8. Serve immediately or chill for 10-15 minutes if preferred cooler.

Notes

Do not overmix yogurt and liqueur to maintain airy texture. Use ripe fresh oranges for best flavor. If chocolate is hard to chop, soften slightly in microwave for 5 seconds. Toast nuts lightly in a dry pan for enhanced flavor and crunch. Chill bowl beforehand for cooler serving temperature. For non-alcoholic version, substitute orange liqueur with fresh orange juice and vanilla extract.
