A festive and spooky guacamole dip featuring tombstone tortilla chips and creative decorations, perfect for Halloween parties or family gatherings.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 3 ripe avocados, peeled and mashed
  • 1 small onion, finely diced
  • 2 medium tomatoes, diced
  • 2 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1 lime, juiced
  • Salt and pepper to taste
  • 1 jalapeño, minced (optional)
  • Fresh cilantro, chopped (optional)
  • Tortilla chips (cut into tombstone shapes)
  • Black olives, sliced
  • Sour cream
  • Cherry tomatoes
  • Refried beans (optional)

Instructions

  1. In a large mixing bowl, mash the avocados until smooth. Add diced onion, tomatoes, garlic, lime juice, salt, pepper, and jalapeño if using. Stir well to combine.
  2. Taste the guacamole and adjust the seasoning as needed. Add more lime juice for tang or salt for flavor.
  3. If making homemade tombstone chips, cut flour tortillas into tombstone shapes using a knife or cookie cutter. Bake at 350°F (175°C) for 5-7 minutes until crispy.
  4. Spread the guacamole evenly onto a serving platter or flat plate. Add dollops of refried beans if using, then smooth the surface.
  5. Place tortilla chips upright in the guacamole to resemble tombstones. Use sliced black olives for spooky details like ‘eyes’ or spiders. Pipe sour cream onto the guacamole in spiderweb designs. Arrange cherry tomatoes as pumpkins or skulls.
  6. Garnish with chopped cilantro for a festive touch, and serve immediately with extra tortilla chips on the side.

Notes

[‘Use ripe avocados for the creamiest texture.’, ‘Roast garlic for extra flavor.’, ‘Store-bought tortilla chips can save time.’, ‘Refrigerate sour cream briefly for easier piping.’, ‘Add cayenne or hot sauce for a spicy kick.’]
