A quick and easy breakfast bowl combining creamy Greek yogurt with fresh orange zest, juice, and finely chopped dark chocolate for a bright, indulgent start to your day.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 1 cup (240 ml) Greek yogurt (full-fat or low-fat)
  • 1 medium fresh orange (zested and juiced)
  • 1 oz (28 g) dark chocolate, finely chopped or shaved
  • 1 tbsp (15 ml) honey or maple syrup (optional)
  • 1 tsp (5 ml) chia seeds (optional)
  • ½ tsp (2.5 ml) vanilla extract
  • Orange segments from ½ orange

Instructions

  1. Zest one medium orange carefully, avoiding the white pith. Juice the orange to yield about 2 tablespoons (30 ml). Set zest, juice, and orange segments aside.
  2. In a mixing bowl, combine 1 cup (240 ml) Greek yogurt with the orange juice, ½ teaspoon (2.5 ml) vanilla extract, and 1 tablespoon (15 ml) honey or maple syrup if using. Stir gently until smooth and creamy.
  3. If desired, add 1 teaspoon (5 ml) chia seeds and mix evenly.
  4. Using a sharp knife, finely chop 1 ounce (28 g) dark chocolate into small pieces or shavings.
  5. Spoon the yogurt mixture into a serving bowl. Sprinkle the orange zest evenly over the top, then scatter the chopped dark chocolate and orange segments.
  6. Gently stir once more to swirl some zest and chocolate throughout, keeping some on top for presentation.
  7. Serve immediately for the freshest taste or chill for 10 minutes if preferred.

Notes

Add orange juice slowly to avoid watery texture. Avoid zesting white pith to prevent bitterness. Chop chocolate finely but not too small to preserve texture. Assemble just before serving for best freshness. For dairy-free, use coconut yogurt and dairy-free dark chocolate.
