A quick and easy recipe for crispy fries topped with hearty chili and gooey melted cheese. Perfect for game days, casual dinners, or indulgent snacks.

Ingredients

Scale
  • Frozen French fries
  • 1 lb ground beef
  • 1 medium onion, finely chopped
  • 2 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1 cup tomato sauce
  • 1 can kidney beans, drained and rinsed
  • 2 tbsp chili powder
  • 1 tsp ground cumin
  • 1 tsp smoked paprika
  • 1 cup cheddar cheese, freshly shredded
  • Sour cream (optional)
  • Green onions, thinly sliced
  • Salt and pepper to taste

Instructions

  1. Preheat the oven to 425Β°F (220Β°C) and line a baking sheet with parchment paper or aluminum foil.
  2. Spread the frozen fries evenly on the baking sheet and bake according to package instructions (usually 20-25 minutes), flipping halfway through, until golden and crispy.
  3. While the fries bake, heat a large skillet over medium-high heat. Add the ground beef and cook for 5-7 minutes, breaking it up with a wooden spoon until browned. Drain excess grease if needed.
  4. Stir in the chopped onion and minced garlic. Cook for another 3 minutes until the onion is translucent and fragrant.
  5. Reduce the heat to medium and add the tomato sauce, kidney beans, chili powder, cumin, smoked paprika, salt, and pepper. Stir well and let it simmer for 10-15 minutes, stirring occasionally.
  6. Once the fries are baked and crispy, transfer them to a serving platter. Spoon the chili generously over the fries.
  7. Sprinkle shredded cheddar cheese on top of the chili. You can pop the platter back into the oven for 2-3 minutes to melt the cheese, or let it melt naturally from the heat of the chili.
  8. Add a dollop of sour cream and sprinkle sliced green onions on top for a fresh, tangy contrast.
  9. Serve immediately and enjoy!

Notes

[‘For crispier fries, use a wire rack on the baking sheet to allow air circulation under the fries.’, ‘Let the chili simmer to meld the flavors together for a richer taste.’, ‘Shred your own cheese for better melting and flavor.’, ‘Adjust the chili powder and smoked paprika to suit your spice preference.’, ‘Prepare the chili ahead of time and store it in the fridge for up to 3 days.’]
